The keto diet or ketogenic diet is a very low-carb diet. The keto diet allows the body to produce ketones which are small fuel molecules. This is used when glucose or blood sugar is in short supply. When you eat very few carbs and moderate amounts of protein, the liver produces ketones from fat. These ketones are used as an alternative food supply to glucose.
When one is on a ketonic diet, one’s insulin levels become very low, so fat burning can then increase drastically as your body switches its supply of fuel to run mostly from fat. So a keto diet then leads to weight loss, while one is less hungry seeing that one has a constant and steady fuel supply from one’s own body fat.
